First Look: Horror-Fantasy ‘Hansel & Gretel’s Halloween’

The upcoming horror-fantasy “Hansel & Gretel’s Halloween” has officially wrapped production in Oklahoma. To celebrate, distributor Devilworks has unveiled the film’s cast alongside a series of first-look images.

Devilworks is pulling double duty on the project—the film was developed entirely in-house, fully financed by the distributor, and will have its international sales helmed by executive producers Samantha Richardson and Matteo Rolleri.

Written by Chris Hoyt and co-directed by Marcus Mallard and Logan Walcher, the film offers a dark, twisted modernization of the classic Grimm fairy tale.

“Hansel & Gretel’s Halloween” follows six teenagers who enter a candy-coated labyrinth from the tale of “Hansel & Gretel.” Once inside, they discover a deadly Witch who turns temptation into lethal traps—and quickly learn that resisting the sweetest lures is their only way out alive.

The film stars Christy Tate (Lifetime’s “Murder and Mayhem at Mardi Gras”) as the Witch, Griffin Edge as Hansel, Alexia Berry as Gretel, with Aubree Payne, Nehemiah Auzer, Madison Sein, Tate Skelton, Amanda Stump, and Caroline Kelly.

“The vision for this film was to inject new life into the legend of ‘Hansel and Gretel’ and make it into something authentically scary,” said Walcher. “The actors captured the sense of horror, and Christy Tate brought life to The Witch that makes her terrifyingly cool. It’s like Goosebumps cranked up to 11. The stakes are high, and the deaths are deeply unsettling. The haunted house makes you question reality at every twist and turn. Marcus and I set out to make a movie your parents don’t want you to watch.”

In addition to directing, Mallard and Walcher produced the film alongside Leah Heitzke-Mallard and Hoyt.

“Hansel & Gretel’s Halloween” is slated for release later this year.
