Earlier this year, Mattel introduced us to Claire de Luna, Carina Song, Willow Thorne, Rae Lumina, and Layla Stone, the witches of Moonspell Magic. The new lineup of dolls officially expands the Monster High universe, creating a world where monsters and witches thrive together. On Wednesday, Mattel and Monster High officially announced their arrival, with the dolls expected to hit local retailers soon.
Each doll brings a unique, spellbinding style to the table, complete with enchanted storytelling accessories like witch hats, detailed spellbooks, and a cauldron that conceals a water-activated “magical surprise” amulet. Notably, the line takes a massive step forward in inclusive representation: Claire de Luna is blind (complete with a cane and braille star cards), while Willow Thorne is hard of hearing and sports a stylish molded hearing aid.
Each of the five new students practices a completely different branch of mysticism, turning Moonspell High into a brilliant hub of magical diversity. Willow Thorne is a grounded nature witch who spends her days brewing healing potions and listening to the earth’s vibrations to communicate with plants. She is joined by Claire de Luna, a gifted seer and clairvoyant who uses her “Star Sight” to read the constellations and catch glimpses of the future. Spreading positive vibes is Carina Song, a love witch dedicated to the magic of friendship who mixes enchanted perfumes to help others embrace self-love. Meanwhile, Layla Stone acts as the coven’s protector, mastering gems and minerals as a crystal witch to craft protective talismans. Rounding out the group is Rae Lumina, a radiant sun witch who literally lights up every room she walks into with the power to channel solar energy and create vibrant rainbows.
