Independent developer Time Hunters and publisher Serafini Productions have revealed “Signal Veil,” a third-person survival horror game blending classic ’90s anime visuals with psychological terror.
The title is in development for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store. An announcement trailer released alongside the reveal offers a first look at the game’s haunted setting.
Set inside the sprawling halls of Nishikawa High School, Signal Veil follows Aki Mizuno, a teenager searching for her missing mother. Armed with a mysterious cellphone that detects invisible spirits, Aki must navigate a series of school disappearances while confronting her own fading sanity and buried memories.
Visually, the game blends the tension of classic survival horror such as Resident Evil and Silent Hill with a 90s anime aesthetic inspired by psychological horror series like “Another” and “Jujutsu Kaisen.”
Gameplay emphasizes resource management and stealth over brute force. Medicine, ammo, and mystical weapons are scarce, so each fight against the school’s spirits demands strategy over brute force. Aki’s sanity adds another layer. As her mind slips, the world around her shifts, enemies grow more unpredictable, and her own fighting becomes more desperate.
Signal Veil is currently in development. Players can wishlist the game and follow for future updates on Steam, Epic Games Store, and the PlayStation Store.
