Weekend Games has officially announced the upcoming publication of Remote Control, an unsettling sci-fi horror typing game developed by Brighton-based studio Canteen Games. Drawing inspiration from the dehumanizing psychological horror of “Severance” and the suffocating tension of “Alien: Isolation,” the title is slated for a PC release via Steam in 2026.
In “Remote Control,” a deep-space spacecraft has gone mysteriously silent. The crew is dead, the incident is undocumented, and the truth remains buried within the hull. From the safety of a remote terminal, you must navigate the wreckage using a series of human “proxies.”
Players are granted 12 attempts to uncover the mystery, issuing typed commands to force these proxies to investigate the ship’s dark corridors. However, your tools are human and inherently flawed. Fear, self-preservation, and panic can interfere with your directives. While they can’t fully resist your control, the pushback from a terrified human creates a unique layer of mechanical friction.
Blending the tactile satisfaction of classic text-based adventures with the surrealist horror of recent hits like “Mouthwashing” and “No, I’m Not a Human,” “Remote Control” promises a high-stakes psychological thrill ride.
Remote Control is available to wishlist now on Steam ahead of its release later this year. An early playable demo of the game is also available via itch.io.
