AMC+ released the official trailer for the eight-episode, half-hour drama “Yaga,” a contemporary mystery thriller reimagining the myth of Baba Yaga. The series debuts with a two-episode premiere Friday, Oct. 23.
Based on Kat Sandler’s hit play, “Yaga” stars Noah Reid (“Schitt’s Creek”) as Rapp, a private investigator called to the small coastal town of Whittock to search for Henry Park (Hudson Williams), the missing heir to a powerful fishery. Rapp quickly collides with an apprehensive local detective (Clark Backo), a charismatic university professor with a taste for younger men (Carrie-Anne Moss), and a web of secrets, enigmatic suspects, and ancient magic.
Set to Alanis Morissette’s cover of Donovan’s “Season of the Witch,” the trailer offers a first look at the supernatural occurrences unsettling Whittock.
Sandler serves as writer, showrunner, and executive producer.
“Yaga” debuts Oct. 23 exclusively on AMC+, with new episodes streaming Fridays through a two-episode season finale Nov. 27.
