Everyone’s favorite friendly ghost, Casper, is looking to make his small-screen return thanks to Peacock where a new live-action television series is reportedly in the works.

According to Deadline, the new series would be a darker take on the popular character, which would reimagine the origin of Casper in a coming-of-age story that explores what it means to be alive.

“In it, when a new family arrives in the small town of Eternal Falls, Casper finds himself entangled in a mystery uncovering dark secrets that have been buried for over 100 years.”

The series is reportedly being written and executive produced by “The Ghost Bride” head writer Kai Yu Wu.

Casper, who started as an animated character in the 1950s made his live-action debut as a CGI ghost in the 1995 film “Casper” opposite Christina Ricci. His last live-action appearance was in the 1998 horror fantasy “Casper Meets Wendy,” which starred Hilary Duff as Wendy the Good Witch.
