Christine McConnell Recreates the Winchester Mystery House Using 500 Pounds of Gingerbread

Last month I shared that Christine McConnell’s new series “From the Mind of Christine McConnell” was headed to the Winchester Mystery House for its second episode. Last Friday, the episode premiered and in it McConnell shares the work that went into putting together a 500 pound gingerbread replica of the Winchester House as it appeared before three of its then seven stories were destroyed by a 1906 earthquake.

In the nearly 20 minute episode, McConnell gives you a behind the scenes look at the work that went into baking the hundreds of pieces of gingerbread that would eventually go on a seven hour trip to the Winchester Mystery House to be assembled into a giant gingerbread mansion. McConnell also gives viewers a brief tour of the historic mansion before showing the finishing details being added to the structure ahead of its unveiling during the debut of the Winchester Mystery House’s new Halloween show Unhinged.

The massive gingerbread sculpture will be on display at The Winchester Mystery House through November 3 for guests to see in person. If you’re a fan of the mansion or McConnell and you can make it, it looks like it would definitely be worth checking out.
