Zombies Take Over the 2017 #YouTubeRewind

Yesterday, YouTube released it’s 2017 Rewind video, the annual mashup video that celebrates the videos, people, music, and memes that were popular over the past year.  This year, zombies were a major theme in the video thanks to the popularity of Taylor Swift’s zombie look in her “Look What You Made Me Do” music video.  The Rewind video recreates the graveyard scene from Swift’s video and features a handful of zombiefied YouTube personalities as they roam a graveyard filled with dead memes from YouTube’s past.

The zombie fun starts at about 2:20 into the video, and past memes that found their final resting place in the video include Mask Singer, the Harlem Shake, “Cash Me Ousside,” Rick Rolling, The Dab, planking, and Smash Mouth’s “All Star.”  Among the zombies were YouTubers like Rosanna Pansino, iHasCupquake, Brizzy Voices, Dashie and more.

While it was nice to see some spooky representation in the Rewind, no real zombies actually made the cut this year, as The Homicidal Homemaker Kaci Hansen pointed out on Twitter.

Here’s to hoping some of our favorite spooky YouTuber’s make it into a future rewind.
