Gameplay Trailer Arrives for Psychological Horror Game ‘Total Chaos’

This week, during DreadXP’s annual Indie Horror Showcase, Apogee Entertainment and developer Trigger Happy Interactive debuted a new gameplay trailer for the highly anticipated psychological survival horror title, “Total Chaos.”

What began as an award-winning total conversion mod for “DOOM II” has now become a fully standalone title with a spine-tingling atmosphere and an aggressively uneasy tension brought on by the developer Sam Prebble’s experience on titles like “Turbo Overkill” and films like “Avatar.”

“Total Chaos” pulls players into the abyss of Fort Oasis, a desolate wasteland once considered paradise by its residential coal miner community. A shadow looms over the island, inhibiting a sense of madness, which can only be described as the feeling of constantly being watched. Monstrosities lurk around every corner of the island’s heart, trapping anybody daring enough to enter the void. While shooting and bludgeoning through these twisted foes, players will unearth fragments of forgotten lives to piece together the chilling mystery of Fort Oasis’ demise (and their connection to it) before their sanity runs dry.

The new Indie Horror Showcase gameplay trailer is set later in the game’s campaign, where an arachnid-like creature pursues its protagonist. With just a small light source in hand, the protagonist has to hide in the shadows and avoid detection from the creature. As the gap closes between them, its taunts and twisted cries — and the thump of its many legs meeting the ground — get louder and louder.

“Total Chaos” will launch on Windows PC via Steam later this year, with VR support coming after launch. You can wishlist and play the demo now on Steam.
