Publisher PikPok has officially unveiled the next chapter in its hit zombie franchise: Into the Dead: Crimson Heights. Announced over the weekend at IGN Live in Los Angeles, the upcoming title is being billed as a “Hyper Reality” survival horror game that aims to push past the current boundaries of standard VR and Mixed Reality.
Into the Dead: Crimson Heights allows players to scan their play space using Hyper Reality technology and turn their real-world furniture into in-game architecture and tactical cover, creating a new kind of immersive, reactive game world.
Crimson Heights expands on the Walton City outbreak first seen in the PC title Into the Dead: Our Darkest Days. Set during the chaotic initial hours of the infestation, the game promises a fresh entry into the franchise that leans heavily into immersive tech.
“We are constantly looking at fun and engaging ways to provide new and unique gaming experiences,” said Mario Wynands, CEO at PikPok. “So with that very much in mind, we are excited to finally reveal Into the Dead: Crimson Heights, which combines tense stealth, tactical exploration and thrilling combat in a unique, body-driven experience.”
Into the Dead: Crimson Heights is currently in development for Hyper Reality on Meta platforms and VR via Steam, with a release targeted for 2027. PikPok promises to share a closer look at the game this August at Gamescom in Cologne.
