New Volkswagen Campaign Turns Common Driving Fears Into Horror Movie Posters

For those of you who have been following All Hallows Geek for a while, you probably know that I work in marketing and am always excited when I find brands injecting horror and Halloween into their advertising efforts. Over the years, I’ve showcased ads from brands like Volvo, Ikea, and more. This week I came across a new campaign created by the agency DDB Sydney, which turned people’s anxieties about driving into horror movie posters promoting the driver assistance system in the new Volkswagen Tiguan.

Four posters were created for the campaign, highlighting fears Australian motorists have about driving, including parallel parking, merging onto a highway, giant roundabouts, and hard-to-see pedestrians. The posters were created in collaboration with acclaimed Canadian movie poster artist Matt Ryan Tobin, who has worked with Disney, Marvel, 20th Television (formerly 20th Century Fox), and Warner Brothers.

In addition to the posters, the agency created a horror-themed ad for the SUV where late at night, an unsuspecting driver comes upon a big roundabout, and the horror ensues. Check out the 30-second spot below:
