On the heels of a massive debut, Netflix has fast-tracked a second season of “Stranger Things: Tales From ’85,” slated for a return this fall.
The series serves as a bridge within the “Stranger Things” universe, set in the winter of 1985, chronologically between Seasons 2 and 3 of the flagship show. Season 2 will see the core party—Eleven (Brooklyn Davey Norstedt), Mike (Luca Diaz), Will (Benjamin Plessala), Dustin (Braxton Quinney), Lucas (Elisha “EJ” Williams), and Max (Jolie Hoang-Rappaport)—joined by Nikki (Odessa A’zion) as they confront a new perilous threat lurking in Hawkins.
“The danger isn’t just growing, it’s all linked,” said series showrunner Eric Robles. “I can’t wait for fans to discover where this entity and the mysterious blue flower we last saw blooming in the Upside Down at the end of Season 1 take our young heroes.”
The renewal comes as the “Stranger Things” franchise continues to dominate the cultural zeitgeist. “Tales From ’85” debuted at No. 7 in Netflix’s Top 10 shows, securing its place as one of the top 15 animated series debuts in the streamer’s history. This news arrives just as the original live-action series surpassed a staggering 1.5 billion cumulative views across its five seasons.
